The Beta Omega Alumni Association of Theta Xi Fraternity (BOAA) was established shortly after the founding of the Beta Omega chapter to provide opportunities for the chapter alumni to continue their fellowship and to support the active chapter. By purchasing the Theta Xi Fraternity House at 208 Upland Road in 1994, the BOAA took a major step towards ensuring that Beta Omega's future growth and prosperity at Virginia Tech remained firmly in the control of its members. The next phase in this process is currently under way. The Foundation Campaign, spearheaded by David Compton, will raise $60,000+ to pay off our mortgage in-full and build a commemorative patio.
The BOAA also provides information and guidance to the active chapter, as requested, via the Alumni Advising Committee. In addition, BOAA supports the active chapter by funding the Henry Wiss Scholarship awards and by providing financial support to send active chapter members to regional and national Fraternity events.
Alumni activities include an annual Summer Fest party, regional 6294 banquets, football tailgate get-togethers, the Beta Omega Golf Tour, and innumerable get-togethers in small groups throughout the year. Over 170 Beta Omega alumni and family members attended the 2000 Sugar Bowl to watch the Virginia Tech Hokies battle the Florida State Seminoles for the NCAA Championship and a similar number attended the BCA Classic, held at Fed Ex Field in the summer of 2004. BOAA produces an award-winning newsletter and maintains a variety of other communication tools, such as this website and its associated forums, to promote community and communications across the generations. The alumni also provide a valuable resource for job contacts, personal services contacts, and a wealth of information and expertise on a wide variety of topics. A number of the alumni have volunteered to support Theta Xi nationally as members of the Grand Lodge, regional directors, and members of national committees. The alumni of Theta Xi Fraternity live the ideal of "Once a Theta Xi, always a Theta Xi."
